People work at jobs for nine to five, usually. We all have different professions, different job titles and different positions at the stores, companies and firms that we work in. Whether we are happy with our jobs or not, we all definitely agree upon the need on some things that we must keep at all times at our office desks. Regardless of our position in our workplace, it's important to keep some things at the ready at all times to make sure that your work runs as smooth as possible.

1. A stapler

Honestly, who doesn't have a stapler on their work desk? That's perhaps one of the most essential things that an employee must have on his desk. Since everybody knows what staplers are for, it's pretty much safe to assume that the applications for this office tool could range from attaching files together to well, attaching anything else that needs to be attached. If your position at a certain company that you work in requires you to be working with computers, printers and everything else that can produce hard copies of files, memos, fact sheets and whatever other thing you could think of, a stapler would definitely be an ideal tool for you to have around on your desk.

2. Some post-its

The post-it is definitely an incredibly important piece of office supply that could potentially be used by everyone ranging from the head honcho to the mail forwarders. Everybody uses post-its. We use post-its to mark certain files to make sure that it get's to where it's supposed to be headed. We put footnotes and reminders on them to make sure that we don't forget our appointments, meetings, and tasks that needs to be completed.

The world definitely is a better place thanks to post-its – well the business world that is. If your desk doesn't have a pad of post-its yet, don't just stand there and keep reading, make sure you get your hands on a bunch as soon as possible. It will make your work a little bit easier.

3. Calling cards

If you're in the position to entertain clients and guests in your work place, it's always important to have with you some calling cards ready to be given away at your desk. After all, if you're trying to land a new client for your company, it's always important that you stay in touch with them. And what better way to do that than to give them your business card right?

Possible clients won't hassle themselves by looking for your office's number at the yellow pages just so they could do business with you. You have to be the man and cover all the bases. And you wouldn't even need to worry at all about your business cards taking up space in your desk, you could always conveniently put it in your drawers or by your nameplate. Having a few calling cards on your desk would definitely be a must-have on everyone's desk.
