Three Reasons Why Computers Are Indispensable Assets
The world has definitely changed. About thirty years ago, who would have thought that we would actually be using mobile phones that didn't require a direct phone line or that cellular phones were possible? There are a whole lot of things that separates the world today from what it was decades ago.
With the advent of computers, this nifty machine has also allowed countless offices and workers all over the world to be able to do work faster, and ultimately make their jobs easier. There are a couple of reasons why people nowadays can't live without computers; they just can't because of personal and more obvious reasons. Now if you have a desk job that requires you to be pushing papers and processing forms from nine to five for five to six days a week, you might find some of these reasons to be quite true.
1. You can definitely work faster for a fact.
With programs like Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, typing up documents, processing some accounting tasks and preparing for presentations would have been a whole lot more difficult if you really start to think about it. If you were typing up a document, imagine how hard it was to erase a few words that you might have accidentally misspelled or added in. If you did it all by hand, you would have to write the entire document all over again. With typewriters, you would have to use corrective ink to erase that unwanted or misspelled word from what you're typing – although there would be a terribly ugly white spot that's brighter than the paper you're actually using. Work has definitely been made more convenient thanks to computers. Imagine how presentations would look in the conference room if you didn't have the ability to use programs like Microsoft Powerpoint. It would definitely have to be a lot of hard work, preparing all those illustrations, charts and other things when all you needed was just one program to fit all of that in.
2. E-mail has been a godsend to offices all over the world.
Thanks to e-mail, sharing of information has been a lot easier. It's cheaper than fax, and it's definitely a lot faster than snail mail. After all, that is the reason why people call mail forwarding snail mail in the first place. Even if it is priority mail, it's going to take more than a couple of hours to actually reach its destination. With email however, sending a memo or a notice could be forwarded in as fast as a couple of minutes even if it means sending it to the other side of the world. Just don't ever forget that you will need an internet connection to be able to use e-mail services.
3. Documents need no longer be stored in filing cabinets.
If files don't need to be printed yet, you can easily store them on your computer's hard disks for storage and possible editing if it's still a work in progress. Think of all the space and paper you'll be saving if you stored your information on a hard disk.
