Furniture Found In The Reception Area
The reception area is the area first seen when you enter an office. It is the first line any visitor, client or supplier enters into within the hub of the business. It shows the character and provides a lasting impression on anyone who waits within the walls of the area. To make the area a conducive area for business, the following are definite must have furniture in the reception area.
1) An ample amount of chairs
Since this is after all a waiting area, there must be an ample amount of chairs for the visitors to use. It must not be office chairs used within the offices themselves. This is to create an atmosphere of quiet elegance. Thus, it is recommended that a long low couch be placed on side of the room. It must be well kept and regularly cleaned. What then defines ample? Statistics show that a seating of five would be sufficient and a provision of five more would be an ample number of seats for a medium sized company.
2) Well stocked racks
Again, as the function of the reception area is to wait for the individual representative of the company, materials should be made available in the reception area. The waiting area is also the best place to place the company's guiding principles or credo. It may also be the showcase area for recognitions and awards the company has garnered over the years. So the furniture needed for these are racks of open cabinets to serve as receptacles for the magazines or the trophies of the company. Also, reading material must be provided in the shelves for the guests and clients. To provide a good impression, the magazines and or newspapers must be up to date.
3) The receptionist's work area
The ruler of this domain in the office is the receptionist. This person would be the first to greet the visitor coming into the office. Then, this office member informs through either a paging system or by phone the person to be visited. So it is important the work area is amply covered as against prying eyes who are essentially third parties to the company. The table must be high enough to see all who enter and yet with enough space to receive or release items to the visitor or supplier. A chair must be provided for her and a receptacle for incoming or outgoing mail.
The reception area is the area of first impressions. It is a waiting area and a showcase room for the company and its personnel. Thus, the furniture needed must provide both the utility for use and the elegance in design to create an atmosphere to impress third parties coming into the office.
